West Ham United have opted to promote teenage striker Princess Ademiluyi to their first team squad for the remainder of the season.

The Hammers announced the news via an update on their official club website this morning.

Ademiluyi is the joint-third highest goalscorer in this season’s WSL Academy League Southern Division. The player has netted an impressive eight goals in just 12 games. West Ham United manager Paul Konchesky has made the decision to give the player the opportunity to come into the senior squad despite her being just 16 years of age.

After being promoted into the senior squad, Ademiluyi said “This is a massive opportunity for me and one I want to grasp.

“I’ve been with the academy for five years now and have worked through all the different levels but I never expected to be given an opportunity like this at my age, so I’m really excited for what’s to come next.

“Coming in to train with the first team during the season has been really good, I’m learning about the intensity and what it takes to be a professional athlete. Everyone has been so welcoming to me and I’ve really enjoyed the experience so far.

“Now I need to keep working hard and continuing pushing on with my development. I’m sure that I’ll be able to do that in this environment.”

Ademiluyi has been handed the number 60 shirt by West Ham United. She could be available for selection this weekend when The Hammers face Aston Villa at The Chigwell Construction Stadium in Dagenham.
