Everton manager Brian Sørensen is expecting his team to be challenged by an ever-improving Leicester City side this weekend.
The Blue Girls travel to The King Power Stadium to face the Barclays Women’s Super League’s bottom club on Sunday afternoon.
Leicester City were seconds away from getting a point in the reverse fixture back in September but they hold a greater threat more than five months on. Former Everton boss Willie Kirk is now in charge of The Foxes and he has brought more aggression to the East Midlands side.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Everton boss Sørensen highlighted the unique challenge that Leicester City will bring and he is expecting a tough fixture this weekend.
“Looking at them, they are hard to play against,” Sørensen said. “They are super-aggressive, they play as a unit and they are starting to pick up points.
“For me, after analysing them, they could be a tougher opponent than Aston Villa because they are more unorthodox about the way that they do things. They are very compact centrally and they are super-aggressive. That’s not always the most fun thing to play against.
“It is going to be a tough game but we want to get back to winning ways, that’s what we will set out to do.”
Everton go into the game having failed to score in their last three matches in all competitions but Sørensen is not concerned, he doesn’t believe that goalscoring will be an issue going forward.
He said “We scored three against Tottenham, Reading and West Ham, so it’s not a concern. We played Manchester United in one of those three games (without a scoring) and we had an FA Cup tie where we saved a lot of players, so I don’t think it will affect our goalscoring.
“Last weekend, if we had been a bit more patient in the final third finding the right moments, we could have scored or created greater opportunities. We just have to get back to it and try to do that.”
Everton’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Leicester City kicks-off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
