One of the biggest games of the season in the Barclays Women’s Super League takes place this weekend with Chelsea playing host to title rivals Manchester United.
It is The Red Devils who currently hold a one-point lead at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League table. Chelsea are a point behind Marc Skinner’s side in second position, however, The Blues do have the luxury of a game-in-hand.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes faces a race against time to be well for this weekend’s fixture. The Blues boss currently has a viral infection and missed the club’s pre-match press conference earlier today.
In terms of playing personnel, it is very much the same picture. Attackers Pernille Harder and Fran Kirby remain sidelined for at least a couple more weeks while Czech Republic international midfielder Kateřina Svitková will be out for the longer term. The likes of Magda Eriksson, Sophie Ingle and Lauren James are likely to be recalled to the side after starting the midweek fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion on the bench.
Manchester United continue to have good squad availability. Canadian international full-back Jayde Riviere is expected to be The Red Devils’ only absentee.
The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Manchester United is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
