With games against Liverpool and Leicester City on the horizon, this could be a very important week for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lilywhites have slid down the Barclays Women’s Super League table in recent months as a result of losing eight league matches on the spin. The upcoming fixtures against eighth-placed Liverpool and bottom club Leicester City could be catalysts for turning Spurs’ form around and helping the club to climb back up the table.

When speaking to the media ahead of those huge fixtures, Spurs boss Rehanne Skinner said that the team are taking things one game at a time and that they are fighting for every single point.

“Every game is important, so we are taking it one game at a time,” Skinner said. “Our performances have been very good and we have been unfortunate in some instances; we have made some mistakes which have caused some momentum shifts in some games where we probably could have got more out of it.

“We are fighting for every point throughout the course of the season. Liverpool is our next game, so the focus is on getting maximum points out of that game.”

Skinner went on to say that she is not thinking about the potential impact of this week’s results on her future. She remains professional by preparing the players to do their jobs to the best of their ability.

She said “My job is to continue to prepare the players in the best way that I can. The belief and the confidence in the group is high and we have been evolving.

“We have played some really tough teams in the run that we have had, we’ve played top opposition who are in good form. That has been difficult but I have got every belief and confidence in the players and in what we are achieving here. We are still moving forwards behind the scenes to keep moving the club in the right direction and that’s all I’m interested in, that’s what I am focusing on.

“The next game is the important one and we will continue to do what we have for every game. We will prepare properly and try to get a result out of the game. We know we need three points, that’s the game and that’s what you play for. The positives towards preparing for that have been really good of late and it is just a matter of time really.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s latest Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Liverpool kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
