Manchester City winger Julie Blakstad has joined Swedish top flight club BK Häcken on a loan deal until mid-June.

The Cityzens announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this evening.

Blakstad joined Manchester City from Rosenborg BK during the January 2022 transfer window. The deal was labelled as the biggest-ever from the Norwegian game. The player has gone on to make 17 appearances for Manchester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored three goals.

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor has utilised Blakstad in various positions on the left side of his team. The player now favours the left wide forward position. Blakstad has had to battle Lauren Hemp for game time with the England international so often coming out on top. Blakstad is keen for some regular minutes and she will hopefully get that additional game time with loan club BK Häcken.

It is understood that Blakstad’s loan move is to help her development. The player remains in Manchester City boss Taylor’s long-term plans and she is expected to again push hard for her place when she returns to her parent club ahead of next season.

Blakstad will be available for selection for BK Häcken once her international clearance is granted.
