Chelsea have confirmed the news that young defender Jorja Fox has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury whilst playing for loan club Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account last night.
Fox joined Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan deal back in August. The youngster has gone on to make 23 appearances for The Seagulls in all competitions in which she has scored two goals. Fox has made a real positive impact during her stay with the Sussex club in 2022/2023.
The player was last in action for Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon as they took on West Ham United at Broadfield Stadium, however, she played just 45 minutes before having to be replaced. After Fox’s injury was assessed, it was determined that she has become the latest of a long list of players to sustain an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury this season. The defender is now expected to be sidelined until early 2024.
Fox has returned to Chelsea from her loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of schedule. She will now begin her rehabilitation with the support of The Blues’ medical team.
