Chelsea and Manchester United will play out one of the biggest games on the calendar when the pair contest the 2022/2023 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

Emma Hayes’ Blues have won four Vitality Women’s FA Cups and are the current holders of the trophy while Manchester United have qualified for the final for the very first time.

Ahead of the match, FAWSL Full-Time have reviewed some of the facts and figures provided by The Football Association. Here are three points to note ahead of the 2022/2023 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final.

Chelsea are Wembley specialists

Chelsea have appeared in six Vitality Women’s FA Cup finals including five of the eight that have been played at Wembley. They also won the first FA Women’s Community Shield to be held at the national stadium in August 2020.

The Blues have won back-to-back Vitality Women’s FA Cup finals; they defeated Arsenal 3-0 in the 2021 final and Manchester City 3-2 after extra-time in the 2022 final.

Manchester United’s Wembley winners

Despite having never played at Wembley with their club, Manchester United’s Mary Earps, Nikita Parris, Alessia Russo and Ella Toone all played a part in England’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 final success over Germany at the national stadium last summer. Earps, Russo and Toone also featured in England’s recent penalty shootout victory over Brazil in the Women’s Finalissima 2023 at Wembley.

Kerr unstoppable in finals

Chelsea forward Sam Kerr has scored in five consecutive cup finals for The Blues. She netted a hat-trick in the club’s 2021 FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup final victory over Bristol City. Kerr followed that treble up with braces in both the 2021 and 2022 Vitality Women’s FA Cup finals while she has also been on target in back-to-back FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup final defeats to Manchester City and Arsenal.

The 2022/2023 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United kicks-off at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
