Manchester United’s teenage winger Alyssa Aherne has signed her first professional contract with the club.

The Red Devils announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

Aherne has come through the Manchester United youth ranks and she made her senior debut for the club during their 4-0 FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup victory over Sheffield United at the Leigh Sports Village back in December. The teenager is yet to make her full debut for Marc Skinner’s side, although she has had another taste of senior football during a loan spell with third tier club Burnley.

Manchester United rate Aherne very highly and the club have moved quickly to agree professional terms with the winger.

After signing her deal with The Red Devils, Aherne said “I’m so proud to sign professionally at this great football club – after being here since the age of 13. It’s a dream come true and a wonderful day for me and my family.”

Aherne has largely represented Manchester United at WSL Academy League level this season. The player has made 11 appearances for the club’s Under-21 side while she has scored six goals. The youngster will be hoping to make her mark at senior level in 2023/2024.
