Bristol City midfielder Emily Syme has signed a two-year contract extension with the club ahead of their return to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Syme is currently in her second spell with Bristol City. The 22-year-old started her senior career with The Robins before spending four years away. She returned to the club in summer 2022 and helped Bristol City to win this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship title. Syme was an ever-present in the Barclays Women’s Championship, scoring three goals in 22 appearances.

The midfielder has a big role to play in a Bristol City shirt and the club will be pleased to have retained her services for two more years.

After signing her new deal, Syme said “I’m really excited to sign a new contract with Bristol City. It will be a big step up to the WSL but I think it’s a challenge I’m ready to take on so I’m pleased to have put pen to paper.

“I really enjoyed last season because I got on with all of the girls and all of the staff so well. I’m familiar with the environment at the club and I know it’s somewhere that I’ll be able to thrive in.

“I’m quite fortunate in that I already have experience in a team that’s won the Championship and then had to make the step up to the top flight and do all the right things to make sure you stay there, so it’s one I’m looking forward to again.”

Further squad updates are expected to be announced by Bristol City in due course.
