Chelsea ace Lauren James has signed a new long-term deal with the club which will keep her at Kingsmeadow until summer 2027.

The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

James joined Chelsea from Manchester United in summer 2021. The player was eased into life with The Blues in her first season with the club before playing a major role for Emma Hayes’ side this term. The attacker made 18 appearances for Chelsea in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League in which she scored five goals. James’ good form for her club saw her make her senior debut for England in the first half of this season.

There is so much more to come from James at Chelsea and both the player and the club will be thrilled to get a new long-term contract agreed.

After signing on again with The Blues, James said “It’s an amazing feeling to extend my stay at the club I love and where I feel most at home. I’m looking forward to the future and I want to reach my full potential.

“I want to be the best version of me as a player and as a person, helping to inspire the next generation. It definitely feels like home and it’s always been the place I’ve wanted to be.”

James’ new contract rounds off a really positive 24 hours for the player. England boss Sarina Wiegman named James in her 23-player squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 yesterday.
