Manchester United midfielder Chloe Williams has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Blackburn Rovers on a permanent deal.

Blackburn Rovers announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website just a short time ago. The midfielder has signed a two-year deal with her new club.

Williams has spent time on loan with Blackburn Rovers during the last two seasons. She made five Barclays Women’s Championship appearances for the Lancashire club during the 2021/2022 season before adding another 18 league outings to her tally this term. Williams scored her first goal for Blackburn Rovers in a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium back in March.

After coming through the youth system at FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Wolverhampton Wanderers, Williams joined Manchester United in 2019. She initially linked-up with the club’s WSL Academy League side. The midfielder made the bench for the senior team but never made an appearance for The Red Devils at first team level.

Williams needs regular game time to push on in her career and while that could not be guaranteed at Manchester United, she will be given plenty of minutes in the second tier at Blackburn Rovers. The player will be hoping to push for more starts at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium now that she has become a permanent addition to the Blackburn Rovers side.

The youngster is Blackburn Rovers’ first signing of the summer transfer window.
