Lewes have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international midfielder Caragh Hamilton from Glentoran.

The Rooks announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Hamilton has enjoyed two spells with Sports Direct Women’s Premiership club Glentoran. She has previously won the league title and Irish Women’s Cup with club. Hamilton has also played UEFA Women’s Champions League football with Glentoran and she most-recently represented the club in the competition in last season’s Round 1. She played in both games against Olimpia Cluj and Birkirkara.

On the international stage, Hamilton has been capped by Northern Ireland on 15 occasions while she has scored two goals for her country.

After completing her move to Lewes, Hamilton said “It’s really exciting. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while, to move to a professional environment.

“I think now is a good time in my career, at 26, been playing for Northern Ireland for the last 10 years, I think I’ll bring a lot of maturity.

“I think I’m an exciting player, someone who wants to go forward a lot, dynamic, energetic, works really hard; those are the key attributes I want to see brought out in my game here.”

Hamilton is Lewes head coach Scott Booth’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
