Arsenal handed tricky Swedish test in Champions League’s Round 1

Arsenal will face Swedish club Linköping FC in the Round 1 semi-finals of the 2023/2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The Round 1 draw took place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland this lunchtime and was streamed live via the association’s official media channels.

As the third-placed team in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League, Arsenal will enter the 2023/2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League in Round 1. The round will again be played in a mini-tournament format with The Gunners having to play a one-off semi-final tie before taking on the winners of the other tie in the final. The overall Round 1 winners will then go into Round 2 which will see knockout ties staged for the right to qualify for the Group Stage.

Arsenal will face Swedish club Linköping FC in their Round 1 semi-final tie. Should The Gunners progress, they will take on either French club Paris FC or Ukrainian side FC Kryvbas in the Round 1 final.

The Round 1 semi-final ties will be staged on 6 September 2023 while the final and third-place play-off will take place on 9 September 2023. Kick-off times and venue details for Arsenal’s Round 1 ties will be agreed in due course.

Manchester United will enter next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League in Round 2 while Chelsea will go straight into the Group Stage.
