Italian legend Carolina Morace has been appointed as the new head coach of London City Lionesses on a two-year deal.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride this evening.

Morace joins London City Lionesses off the back of an impressive coaching career which has seen her lead the national teams of Italy, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago while at club level, she has been the head coach of Lazio and AC Milan. Morace won promotion in the second of her two spells as Lazio head coach in 2021 while she guided AC Milan to third place in the Serie A Femminile TIM during her time with the Rossonere.

As a player, Morace netted 105 goals in 150 appearances for the Italian national team and she is the second-highest goalscorer in the nation’s history.

Morace will now test herself as a head coach in the English game with London City Lionesses. She will be tasked with guiding the club into the Barclays Women’s Super League in the coming years.

After agreeing to become London City Lionesses’ new head coach, Morace said “I’m delighted to have been appointed the new head coach of London City Lionesses.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to join a female-led football club who are paving the way for women and girls to realise their footballing ambitions and I look forward to playing my part in London City’s journey.

“The Club is highly motivated to win the (Barclays Women’s) Championship and I will work hard with the players, staff and leadership team to make sure that we build on London City’s proud traditions and achieve the Club’s collective ambitions.”

Morace links-up with Nicola Williams once again at Princes Park. The pair previously worked together at Lazio.
