Sheffield United defender Charlotte Newsham has signed a new contract with the club ahead of the new season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this afternoon.

Newsham has played an important role for Sheffield United since joining the club from Blackburn Rovers in summer 2021. The player has made 35 appearances for The Blades in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she has scored two goals. Newsham was an ever-present for Sheffield United in the second tier last season and her good performances in a red and white shirt resulted in her claiming the club’s Player of the Season award.

Sheffield United are set for an exciting season as they transition towards a full-time playing model and Newsham will undoubtedly be a key player for the club.

After signing on again with The Blades, Newsham said “It’s great to be back. Once I heard about the club’s backing and Jonathan’s (Morgan) plans and ambitions, there’s only one place I wanted to be and I’m buzzing to be back with The Blades.”

Newsham’s new deal comes off the back of club captain Sophie Barker becoming Sheffield United boss Jonathan Morgan’s first signing of the summer transfer window. The midfielder put pen to paper at Bramall Lane earlier this week.
