Tottenham Hotspur attacker Lenna Gunning-Williams has signed her first professional contract with the club.

The North Londoners announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

Gunning-Williams has come through the youth system at Spurs and she has gone on to be involved at first team level on a small number of occasions. The player made her debut for the club in last season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup. Gunning-Williams came off the bench to score in Spurs’ 5-1 victory over then-second tier club Coventry United in the group stage of the competition. The youngster made her first Barclays Women’s Super League appearance as a second half substitute in Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at The Academy Stadium in March.

The 18-year-old is one of the brightest young players to come out of the Spurs academy system and the club have moved quickly to retain her services on a professional basis.

With Spurs now under new management, the immediate future for Gunning-Williams is unclear. The player may become a more regular feature in the Spurs squad this season or the more likely development path could see her go out on loan and benefit from a regular run of games. Regardless of what the new season holds, Gunning-Williams has an exciting future.
