Southampton have completed the signing of forward Emily Kraft from Barclays Women’s Championship rivals Lewes.

The Saints announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

Kraft joins Southampton after spending one season at Lewes. The 21-year-old joined The Rooks after leaving German club Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. Kraft made 17 appearances for Lewes in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season, scoring three goals.

The forward put in a number of bright performances for the Sussex club in 2022/2023 and her form didn’t go unnoticed by Southampton, especially after the player netted the winner when the two sides met at St Mary’s Stadium back in January.

After completing her move to Southampton, Kraft said “I’m buzzing to be here. It’s a really good club and I’m so happy to take my next steps here.

“With all the ambitions and what they strive for, I just think it’s a really good club and that we can have a lot of success this season.”

Southampton manager Marieanne Spacey-Cale has added two forwards to her ranks in the space of 24 hours. In addition to Kraft, The Saints also acquired the services of prolific goalscorer Rianna Dean yesterday. The club now look to have lots of good attacking options going into the new season.
