Rangers have completed the signing of forward Rio Hardy on a free transfer after the player recently left Durham.

The Gers announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website yesterday.

Hardy has spent the last two seasons playing in England. The player netted five goals in 11 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances in a half-season spell at Coventry United before joining Durham for an undisclosed fee in January 2022. Hardy was a regular scorer for The Wildcats and ended the 2022/2023 season as the club’s top scorer with seven league goals.

After acquiring Hardy’s services, Rangers head coach Jo Potter said “I am super-excited to bring Rio in, she has got a lot of high quality attributes, her stature, strength, physicality and the ability to score all kinds of goals.

“She can use both feet, score headed goals as well which is very rare and she has got the ability to drop between lines and stretch the game, as an all-rounder it is a no brainer for me and I was just really keen to try and get her through the door.”

Potter and Hardy have worked together before with the pair having both been at Coventry United in the 2021/2022 season.
