Arsenal have revealed that more than 5,000 fans have already snapped up their tickets for this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League matches at the Emirates Stadium.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a media note from The Gunners this afternoon.
Arsenal will play five of their 11 home Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures at the Emirates Stadium this season, more than ever before. On Tuesday, Arsenal revealed that their fixtures against Liverpool, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will all be played at the Emirates Stadium. Five-match tickets went on-sale and it has been reported that more than 5,000 have already been purchased.
Arsenal are arguably the best-supported club in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Gunners staged a number of games at the Emirates Stadium last season and they attracted some huge crowds. Arsenal were backed by more than 40,000 fans for all of their Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures played in N7 while their UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final, second leg tie against VfL Wolfsburg was declared a sell-out.
Arsenal are some distance ahead of their Barclays Women’s Super League rivals when it comes to fan growth and the profile of their women’s team is again set to increase this season.
