Chelsea’s teenage forward Reanna Blades has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Lewes on a season-long loan arrangement.
The Rooks announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website earlier today.
Blades has come through the Chelsea academy system and she signed her first professional deal with the South West Londoners last October. The youngster featured for The Blues at senior level in a pre-season friendly against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium back in 2021 while she made one substitute appearance for the club last season.
Given the high level of competition at Chelsea, Blades was unlikely to benefit from regular game time this season therefore the player has joined Lewes on loan. The Rooks have struck up a good relationship with Chelsea in recent seasons and Blades is the latest player to be sent to The Dripping Pan for the next stage of her development.
Blades becomes the sixth summer signing for Lewes boss Scott Booth. The Sussex club have also acquired the services of Caragh Hamilton, Anna Grey, Maria Farrugia, Sarah Brasero-Carreira and Hollie Olding so far this summer.
Lewes are likely to complete further deals yet given the fact that their 2023/2024 squad remains low on numbers.
