Former Liverpool goalkeeper Charlotte Clarke has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Birmingham City on a free transfer.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this evening.
Clarke has signed a two-year deal at St Andrew’s and will compete with Lucy Thomas for the first-choice goalkeeping jersey.
The 22-year-old joined former club Liverpool in December 2021 but she struggled for game time with the club, largely due to the number of quality goalkeepers on their books. Clarke found herself behind Rachael Laws, Eartha Cumings and Faye Kirby last season and she was sent out on loan to FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club West Bromwich Albion.
Clarke has lots of potential and she will be hoping to get the opportunity to shine with new club Birmingham City.
After joining the Blues, Clarke said “I’m really excited. I’m buzzing to get in and start the season. Now that the fixtures are out, I’m looking forward to the season.
“The drive and ambition to push the Club forward; missing out by a point last season, you can see that the Club has that desire to go further.”
Clarke becomes Birmingham City’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
