Watford have agreed contract extensions with 12 members of their promotion-winning squad.
The Golden Girls announced news of their squad-building via a post on their official club website this evening.
Watford have confirmed that Jacqui Goldsmid, Megan Chandler, Anne Meiwald, Sophie McLean, Drè Georgiou, Alli Palisch, Annie Rossiter, Poppy Wilson, Flo Fyfe, Bianca Baptiste, Gemma Davison and Ellie Head are all remaining with the club for the upcoming season.
A decision on the futures of Jade Bradley, Lois Edwards, Melis Mehmet and Kalani Peart is yet to be made. The quartet are currently out with injuries and will receive continued medical support from the club.
Watford return to the Barclays Women’s Championship this season following a 12-month absence. The Golden Girls won the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division title last season before beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the FA Women’s National League Championship Play-Off Final at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes. Midfielder Wilson netted the decisive goal which secured Watford their return to the elite game at the first time of asking.
After securing the services of 12 players, the challenge for Watford boss Damon Lathrope is to now bring in some new faces to help push the club onto the next level. Having two relegation places in the Barclays Women’s Championship this season will make survival more difficult.
