London City Lionesses winger Lucy Fitzgerald has signed a one-year contract extension with the club ahead of the new season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride this afternoon.

Fitzgerald has been with London City Lionesses throughout their time as a professional club. She TUPE transferred over from Millwall Lionesses in summer 2019. The 22-year-old has gone on to make 62 appearances for London City Lionesses in the Barclays Women’s Championship while she has scored three league goals.

Given the high level of competition for places at London City Lionesses last season, Fitzgerald often found herself named amongst the substitutes. The player will be hoping to increase her game time this season after signing a new deal at Princes Park.

After extending her contract with London City Lionesses, Fitzgerald said “I’m very excited to back at London City after a very good season last year. It’s good to have a fresh start with a new manager coming in [because] the team is really looking to push forward and challenge for the league again.”

Fitzgerald follows teammates Lois Joel and Hermoine Cull in signing a new contract with London City Lionesses during the close season.
