West Ham United midfielder Abbey-Leigh Stringer has signed a new contract with the club.

The Hammers announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Stringer joined West Ham United in summer 2021 after leaving former club Everton. The midfielder has made 29 appearances for The Hammers in the Barclays Women’s Super League while she has scored one goal. Stringer missed three months of action last season due to an injury but she is now on the comeback trail.

After extending her contract with West Ham United, Stringer said “I’m really pleased to have signed a new contract with West Ham United.

“It was a really difficult end last season for me personally because of injury. This is the longest injury that I’ve had in my career but I’m working really hard to try and get back fit for when the season gets underway.

“I’m really excited to get back out there and get the shirt on again. I hope it’s going to be a really exciting season and I’m pleased that I’ve got another chance to play in front of the West Ham fans.

“We want to hit the ground running and make a good start to the season, and hopefully, I’ll be available for selection and can help the team from the off.”

Stringer follows Halle Houssein and Mel Filis in signing on again with The Hammers this summer.
