Birmingham City have completed the impressive signing of highly-rated defender Neve Herron on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this morning.

Herron joins Birmingham City after leaving former club Sunderland at the end of last season. She has signed a two-year deal at St Andrew’s.

The 20-year-old made 39 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship for former club Sunderland in the last two seasons while she scored four goals. Herron is a full-back who is strong defensively but also likes to join in with attacks. She is one of the brightest young talents in the second tier.

After joining Birmingham City, Herron said “I’m buzzing. It’s been a long time coming for me to be here. To finally be here and having everything sorted, I’m so happy.

“Me and the Club have the same ambitions. At this stage of my career, it was the right choice for me. The Club want to get to the same place as me.”

Herron becomes Birmingham City’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window. The club have also signed Ellie Mason, Charlie Devlin, Charlotte Clarke, Katie Dungate and Remi Allen this summer.
