Sheffield United forward Sophie Haywood has signed a contract extension with the club ahead of the new season.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this afternoon.
Haywood joined Sheffield United on a free transfer last summer after leaving Barclays Women’s Super League club Aston Villa. The player went on to make 14 appearances for The Blades in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she scored three goals. All of Haywood’s league goals came after new manager Jonathan Morgan arrived at the club.
After signing on again with Sheffield United, Haywood said “We ended the last season on a high and on a personal note, I was really starting to enjoy my football so I knew I wanted to stay and I’m happy we could get it over the line.
“I was speaking to Jonno and a few of the players and it felt like we wanted the season to carry on because we were just starting to click. We had a great run of form and hopefully, we can carry that on.”
Haywood follows Charlotte Newsham, Bex Rayner, Maddy Cusack, Molly Graham and Rachel Brown in signing a new contract with Sheffield United this summer.
