Arsenal’s Kathrine Kühl says that Denmark are ready to give everything as they bid to reach the last-16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.
The Danes simply need to equal or better China’s result against England to qualify for the knockouts when they face Group D minnows Haiti in Perth tomorrow.
Arsenal midfielder Kühl is the youngest member of the Danish team. She has started both of her side’s group games so far against China and England. When speaking to the media ahead of the Haiti game, Kühl said that she does not feel any added pressure when selected in the starting XI and that the team are determined to get the result that they need in Perth.
“I don’t really feel like I have such a big responsibility,” Kühl said. “I’m still young and can learn a lot from all of the other talented players on the team and they’re really good at supporting me.
“I hope that you can see a lot more of me and the team and that it doesn’t end tomorrow. We will do everything that we can to ensure that it doesn’t end.
“I’m ready for tomorrow. Hopefully, we can enjoy more of the ball than we’ve had in the other games and we can make it count.”
Denmark have everything to lose against Haiti but Kühl believes that the team should enjoy the moment and try to thrive off the pressure.
She said “I think it is a game to enjoy. It’s not often you get to play with that pressure on a big stage. These kind of games hopefully bring out the best in each other. You want to play your best when you know it really matters.
“It is important to enjoy it even if there are some nerves given what is at stake.”
Denmark’s final Group D match against Haiti kicks-off at 12pm tomorrow.
