Former Arsenal midfielder Ava Kuyken has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Reading ahead of the new season.
The Royals announced news of their latest signing via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Kuyken started out with Barclays Women’s Super League club Arsenal where she made a handful of first team appearances. The player then moved to the United States to combine football with her studies before joining Bristol City for the 2021/2022 season. Kuyken has most recently been playing her football in Scotland with Hibernian.
In her previous spell in the Barclays Women’s Championship, Kuyken made 15 appearances for Bristol City. She helped The Robins to briefly put some pressure on eventual 2021/2022 champions Liverpool before the club had to admit defeat in the title race.
Kuyken is Reading’s second signing of the summer transfer window. The Berkshire club also re-signed former midfielder Charlie Estcourt last week. Many more signings are expected at The Select Car Leasing Stadium before the start of the new season with Reading transitioning back to part-time operations following their relegation from the Barclays Women’s Super League last season.
The Royals are also set to announce a new manager in the coming weeks with former boss Kelly Chambers having recently left the club.
