Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the news that defender Rebekah Stott is leaving the club to join Melbourne City.

The Seagulls made the announcement via a post on their official club website late last night.

Stott has enjoyed two spells with Brighton & Hove Albion. She first turned out for the club in 2020/2021 before being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After returning to good health, Stott re-signed for The Seagulls last summer. The defender has made 12 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion in total in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

After Stott’s latest Brighton & Hove Albion departure was announced, head coach Melissa Phillips said “Rebekah is a talented player and remarkable individual with a lot of experience in the game.

“She’s overcome a lot in the last few years, she’s added value to the team both on and off the pitch – we thank her for her time here.

“We wish her all the best and every success in her future endeavours, she’ll always be welcome in Brighton.”

Stott becomes the sixth player to leave Brighton & Hove Albion this summer. The Seagulls do have options at centre-back but head coach Phillips could opt to strengthen in that area before the new Barclays Women’s Super League season starts.
