Chelsea defender Charlotte Wardlaw has joined SWPL1 club Glasgow City on a season-long loan deal.
The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Wardlaw is a product of the Chelsea academy system and she has spent the last few seasons playing senior football. The defender made her first team debut for Chelsea in the group stage of the 2019/2020 FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup before being loaned out to both Liverpool and Lewes.
The 20-year-old was a Barclays Women’s Championship title-winner in the first of her two loan spells with Liverpool. She made 18 appearances for the Merseyside club in league competition in 2021/2022, scoring one goal. After struggling for top flight minutes at Liverpool in the first half of last season, the player was sent on loan to Lewes.
With strong competition for places at Chelsea, Wardlaw will spend the upcoming season out on loan again with the player moving to SWPL1 champions Glasgow City. The youngster joins a club with one of the best reputations in the Scottish game. Glasgow City will be looking to add to their league title this year both domestically and in Europe.
Chelsea have now sent five players out on loan for the upcoming season.
