Southampton have completed the impressive signing of Jamaican international attacker Atlanta Primus on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Saints this afternoon.

Primus joins Southampton upon the expiry of her contract with former club London City Lionesses. The player spent three seasons with The Pride in which she made 48 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship, scoring 15 goals. Primus helped London City Lionesses to push for promotion last season and she will be hoping to go one step further and win the title with new club Southampton.

After joining The Saints, Primus said “I’m super-excited to be here. I’m ready to get going and excited for the season to start.

“From the staff to the players, I think there’s something special here and I wanted to be a part of that.”

This summer has seen Primus represent Jamaica at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The player was a key member of a Jamaican side which reached the last-16 of the tournament for the very first time. She started all four tournament matches for The Reggae Girls.

Primus becomes Southampton boss Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
