Republic of Ireland midfielder Niamh Farrelly has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride earlier this afternoon. The player has signed a one-year contract at Princes Park.

Farrelly joins London City Lionesses after recently leaving Italian club Parma Calcio. The midfielder spent one year in the Serie A Femminile TIM. She made 20 league appearances for ‘I Gialloblu’ in which she scored one goal. Farrelly has also played for Peamount United and Glasgow City in her senior career to date.

After joining London City Lionesses, Farrelly said “I was really impressed when I spoke with Carolina [Morace] and Nicola [Williams] about their ambitions for the Club and how they develop players.

“The Club has been successful over the last couple of seasons and I think that we can push for promotion. After playing in Italy, I think I will be able to fit in quickly under the coaching staff. My first two days with the team have been great, everyone has been really welcoming and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.”

Farrelly becomes London City Lionesses’ eighth summer signing.
