Former Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Megan Walsh has joined West Ham United on a free transfer.

The Hammers announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Walsh joins West Ham United after leaving former club Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of last season. The 28-year-old spent four seasons with the Sussex club in which she made 65 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Walsh featured in both of Brighton & Hove Albion’s league games against West Ham United last season.

The Republic of Ireland international will compete with Mackenzie Arnold for the first-choice goalkeeping jersey this season.

After joining West Ham United, Walsh said “I’m really pleased to be joining West Ham United. It’s an amazing Club with a great history.

“I’m excited for something new and to be working with Rehanne [Skinner] for the first time. I’m looking forward to seeing what she will be able to bring out in my game.

“The WSL is one of the best leagues in the world – it’s tough and it’s getting even more competitive year on year. I have played against West Ham a number of times and they were always very physical clashes.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and putting in the work over the rest of pre-season as we prepare for the new campaign.”

Walsh becomes West Ham United’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
