Former London City Lionesses forward Lucy Shepherd has joined Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from the Lancashire club this afternoon.

Shepherd joins Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer after leaving former club London City Lionesses earlier this summer. The 24-year-old spent the 2022/2023 campaign with The Pride after joining the club last summer. Shepherd made 16 appearances for London City Lionesses in the Barclays Women’s Championship, however, she is in need of regular game time after being handed just one start.

The forward started her career with Aston Villa after coming through the Midlands club’s youth ranks before combining playing football with her studies at Hofstra University in the United States. Shepherd returned to the UK following her spell Stateside last summer and immediately found herself a new club in the elite game. The player is yet to reach her full potential in professional football but she will be hoping to achieve big things at Blackburn Rovers.

Shepherd becomes Blackburn Rovers head coach Simon Parker’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window following the recent additions of Niamh Murphy, Chloe Williams, Tyler Toland and Georgia Walters. The Lancashire club are now almost ready for the big kick-off at the weekend.
