Crystal Palace defender Annabel Johnson has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The Eagles announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Johnson is set to begin her fifth season at Crystal Palace after initially joining the club in summer 2019. The player has made 69 appearances for the South East Londoners in the Barclays Women’s Championship while she has scored two goals. Johnson has bags of experience at Barclays Women’s Championship level and she is set to play an important role with Crystal Palace again this season.

After signing her new deal, Johnson said “I’m really proud to sign for Palace again. This will be my fifth year now, and I’ve seen the club transition from strength to strength. I’m so excited to be part of that progression again this year.

“Five years in the women’s game is a very long time. This club feels like home. I absolutely love seeing the progress of the club, and I can’t wait to be a part of it in this upcoming season.”

Johnson becomes the 15th player to sign a contract extension with Crystal Palace during the close season. The club have also brought in three new players in the summer transfer window.
