Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City will get the new Barclays Women’s Championship season underway when they meet at Ewood Park on Saturday evening.
The game is one of four Barclays Women’s Championship matches to be played in BB2 this season with Blackburn Rovers receiving increased support from the Club.
Blackburn Rovers head coach Simon Parker will take charge of his side for the first time in a competitive game after being appointed into his role over the summer. The Lancashire club go into the new season without the services of long-term absentees Nic Worthington and Farah Crompton. As things stand, competitive debuts could be handed to up to five summer signings.
Birmingham City head coach Darren Carter has been exceptionally busy in the summer transfer window. The Blues boss has added seven new players to his squad. Ellie Mason, Charlie Devlin, Remi Allen, Neve Herron and Lily Agg are some of the new players who could make their debuts at Ewood Park this weekend. Full-back Siobhan Wilson is still out nursing an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury and will be sidelined for the first half of the season.
