Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Liverpool defender Hannah Silcock on a season-long loan deal.

The Lancashire club announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Silcock has come through the academy system at Liverpool and she now finds herself on the fringes of the first team squad. The defender is one of The Reds’ most highly-rated young talents and she signed her first professional terms with the club last season. Silcock made five appearances for Liverpool in all competitions in 2022/2023.

The player is now at the point in her development where she needs regular football. That cannot be guaranteed at Liverpool this season therefore manager Matt Beard has allowed the player to spend the 2023/2024 campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers. Silcock could make her debut for the Barclays Women’s Championship club when they face Birmingham City at Ewood Park on Saturday evening.

New Blackburn Rovers head coach Simon Parker has now completed his summer recruitment. Parker has brought six new players into the club during the close season. Most positions have been strengthened therefore Blackburn Rovers should go into the new campaign with sufficient depth. The club’s new-look squad will be severely tested this weekend with opponents Birmingham City targeting promotion this season.
