West Ham United midfielder Halle Houssein has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Reading on a season-long loan.

The Royals announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Houssein has spent around 20 months with West Ham United. She has represented The Hammers on 10 occasions in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The youngster spent a period with FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Gillingham Women last season to aid her development.

The next step is for Houssein to get regular minutes in the elite game and she will be hoping to have the benefit of that at Reading this season.

After joining The Royals, Houssein said “I’m very excited to join Reading. It’s a great club with fantastic facilities, people and fans. It’s a big club and I’m honoured to be here.

“I like to come off the pitch knowing I’ve given 110% towards the cause, and I think that’s imperative when playing in midfield.

“Hopefully as a team we can achieve great things, and make the fans proud every time we take to the pitch.”

Houssein could go straight into the Reading squad for their Barclays Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses at Princes Park this weekend.
