Sunderland have completed the permanent signing of 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam midfielder Mollie Rouse on a professional contract.

The Lady Black Cats announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Rouse has previous experience of playing football in the Barclays Women’s Championship in spells with Lewes and London City Lionesses. The player has most recently been playing her football in Germany with 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. In a little over one season, Rouse has made 23 league appearances for the club.

The player now returns to the English game for the first time since summer 2022 with in-form Sunderland.

After securing Rouse’s services, Sunderland manager Melanie Reay said “I am delighted to bring Mollie to Sunderland. She has vast amounts of Championship and international experience and will add more depth and quality to our midfield. She will go straight into tomorrow’s squad against Crystal Palace.”

Sunderland completed the transfer ahead of the closure of the overseas transfer window on Thursday evening. Manager Reay had previously indicated that she was looking to thrash out a couple of deals. It is not yet known whether she was able to bring any other players to the club in final stages of the summer transfer window.
