Arsenal will be hoping to impress a huge home crowd when Liverpool provide the opposition at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.

The Gunners could welcome as many as 53,000 fans to their spiritual home for their Barclays Women’s Super League season-opener against The Reds.

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall remains without long-term absentees Vivianne Miedema, Leah Williamson, Laura Wienroither and Teyah Goldie for his side’s latest match while defender Noelle Maritz will be assessed. Lotte Wubben-Moy and Lina Hurtig should be fit while forward Beth Mead could play her first minutes since last November.

Liverpool manager Matt Beard has a number of injury and illness issues to contend with ahead of his side’s trip to North London. Mel Lawley, Leanne Kiernan, Shanice van de Sanden and Niamh Fahey are all still a few weeks away from full fitness. It is unclear whether summer signing Sophie Roman Haug will be given the green light to play wearing a protective mask. A couple of other players may still be in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 in midweek.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and Liverpool is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm. Tickets will be available to purchase right up until kick-off and fans can book their seats online by clicking here.
