Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has asked the fans to keep supporting his side following this afternoon’s shock 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
Miri Taylor netted the only goal of the game as the majority of the 54,115 Barclays Women’s Super League record crowd were left on the losing side.
Arsenal have received outstanding backing from the fans for their matches played at the Emirates Stadium and head coach Eidevall has asked them to stick with his side after this afternoon’s loss.
“The only disappointment is that we couldn’t reward them with a better performance or a better result,” Eidevall said when speaking to WSL Full-Time in the post-match press conference.
“That’s my disappointment at the moment. How they supported the team until the final whistle was incredible and I want to thank every single one of them for that. I want to say sorry that we couldn’t perform better but please give us more chances, come back and we will do better.”
Eidevall avoided blaming the pressure of the big occasion for the defeat. The Arsenal boss said that he sets himself high standards for every game, regardless of how many fans are watching.
He said “There is nobody putting more pressure on me than myself. I want to win so badly every time, there’s nothing that changes that.
“No matter how many people are interested in it (the game), my expectations on myself and my willingness to win is going to be so high. That doesn’t change, not at all.”
Arsenal are next in action on Friday evening when they travel to the Leigh Sports Village to face Manchester United.
