Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that his side are ready to show a better version of themselves against Manchester United.
The Gunners travel to the North West to take on The Red Devils at the Leigh Sports Village on Friday night.
Arsenal made the worst possible start to the new Barclays Women’s Super League season as they went down 1-0 to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium last weekend. The Gunners were a shell of themselves in that match but Eidevall says that his team are ready to show a better side of their game against Manchester United.
“There’s been a very mature reaction and there has been a lot of accountability and ownership,” Eidevall said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “It’s a team that really wants to show another version of itself.
“We are so aware that we are something else than we showed last Sunday. We also know that words are cheap and action is what counts. That’s what training is about and that’s what Friday is about.”
Arsenal lost both of their Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures against Manchester United last season by a single goal. Eidevall says that his side are motivated to turn their recent form against The Red Devils around.
He said “It’s a team that are very consistent in the way that they are playing. Manchester United are a good football team and we have played some even football matches against them in my two seasons here at Arsenal.
“I wasn’t happy with either of our performances against them last season and I was definitely not happy with the results. We have a lot of motivation to turn that around this season.”
Arsenal’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester United kicks-off at 7.30pm on Friday night.
