Tottenham Hotspur head coach Robert Vilahamn says that he is not thinking about an overall target for his side this season in terms of league ranking.

Vilahamn was appointed Spurs boss over the summer and he has been challenged with turning around the form of one of the Barclays Women’s Super League’s under-performing sides from last season.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s home fixture against Bristol City, Vilahamn said that his full focus is on getting the team to perform better and better. The Spurs boss is not thinking about where his side could finish in the league table at this stage.

“On our day, I think we can win any game,” Vilahamn said. “We have got to make sure that we get the best results that we can.

“When you see Liverpool beating Arsenal away, you realise that there are a lot of good teams and players in this league.

“Instead of me guessing (a target), I’m just going to make sure we perform well in each game. When we get to Christmas, we will reassess but it would be silly of me to guess a target (now).

“We want to play better in the next game and then the one after that and so on. We will then see how many points we have and see where we can aim. Right now, every team is trying to find a way to play this year and I need to let the table stabilise before we know where we are going.”

Vilahamn wants his side to dominate this weekend’s fixture against Bristol City, although he expects the visitors to bring plenty of fight to East London.

He said “We have Grace (Clinton) who played for them last year, so she has a lot of information on them, however, from watching the game against Leicester, you can see that they are not playing exactly the same way as last year.

“They have good quality players and a good coach and they are going to fight for every point this year, so we need to be really sharp.

“Hopefully, we can dictate the game back at our home stadium and play our way.”
