FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup holders Arsenal will get their trophy defence underway this evening when Bristol City provide the opposition at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium in Borehamwood.
The Gunners won the trophy for the first time in five years when they defeated Chelsea 3-1 at Selhurst Park in the 2022/2023 final back in March. Arsenal have won the competition more times than anyone else and they will be hoping to continue their dominance this season.
Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall remains without the services of long-term absentees Leah Williamson, Laura Wienroither and Teyah Goldie for his side’s latest match. Laia Codina is out with a minor muscular injury but Caitlin Foord is fit to play. Eidevall is expected to make several changes with the likes of Sabrina D’Angelo, Jen Beattie, Noelle Maritz, Lina Hurtig, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Stina Blackstenius potentially coming in.
Bristol City arrive in Hertfordshire off the back of recording their first win of the season last weekend. On-loan Arsenal keeper Kaylan Marckese is unable to play this evening therefore Olivia Clark is set to return to the side. Defender Satara Murray is likely to be the only other absentee.
The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture between Arsenal and Bristol City kicks-off at 7pm. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
