Lewes have completed the signing of young defender Eve Clarkson on a free transfer.

The Rooks announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Clarkson joins Lewes following a spell combining football with her studies in the United States. The player was a member of the UIW Cardinals side during her time Stateside. Clarkson arrives at Lewes in good playing condition after representing UIW in competitive action up until the end of last month.

Prior to her spell in the United States, Clarkson was on the books of Blackburn Rovers. She did not represent the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship but she will now get the opportunity to play second tier football with Lewes.

After securing her move to The Dripping Pan, Clarkson said “I’ve not been here long but I’ve enjoyed it so much so far, the girls have been really welcoming and it’s been a great start.

“I’m a very aggressive and hard-working player, I’m definitely the player doing the slide tackling and dirty work, but also, recently I have grown my technical game a lot and I’m very versatile.”

Clarkson could go straight into the Lewes squad for their Barclays Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses at The Dripping Pan this afternoon.
