Manchester United have confirmed the news that Japanese international midfielder Hinata Miyazawa has undergone surgery on a fractured ankle.
The Red Devils provided an update on Miyazawa’s fitness earlier today via a post on their official club website.
Miyazawa sustained the injury whilst away on international duty with Japan earlier this month. The player’s injury was quickly assessed with an ankle fracture being identified. Miyazawa will now spend several weeks in rehabilitation with the support of the Manchester United medical staff.
Manchester United signed the 24-year-old midfielder from MyNavi Sendai during the summer transfer window. The player has gone on to make eight appearances for Marc Skinner’s side in the Barclays Women’s Super League, scoring her only goal in last month’s 2-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
After a challenging first half of the season, Manchester United need a player of Miyazawa’s quality when the campaign resumes next month but she is set to be sidelined for a longer period of time.
After Christmas, Manchester United will travel to Malta for a mid-season training camp before returning to England in the second week of January to prepare for an Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Newcastle United at The Leigh Sports Village.
