Brighton & Hove Albion’s loanee goalkeeper Nicky Evrard has returned to parent club Chelsea after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Evrard joined Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea back in September. The Belgian international made three appearances for the Sussex club in all competitions in which she kept one clean sheet. It has now been revealed that the player recently sustained a hamstring injury whilst on international duty and she has returned to parent club Chelsea to continue her rehabilitation.

After Evrard’s Chelsea return was confirmed, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Women and Girls’ Managing Director, Zoe Johnson said “We’d like to thank Nicky for her contribution since joining the club in the summer and we wish her well in her recovery back to full fitness.”

Chelsea signed Evrard in March 2023, the player penned a pre-contract agreement with the South West Londoners. The 28-year-old keeper first linked-up with The Blues in July but she was soon loaned out to get her first experience of Barclays Women’s Super League football. With Chelsea boasting four other senior goalkeepers on their books, Evrard faces a fight to force her way into contention for game time when she returns to fitness.
