Chelsea manager Emma Hayes says that her side’s final UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage fixture against Paris FC is a game that the club want to win.
The Blues have already secured their place in the quarter-finals with a game to spare. Chelsea sealed their place in the knockouts after last week’s 2-1 home victory over Real Madrid.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of her side’s fixture against Paris FC, Hayes said that Chelsea are fully-focused on winning the game.
“It’s an important game for both of us,” Hayes said. “We know the qualities of Paris from the home game and we know it is a game that they will want to win but so do we.
“We keep challenging our team to progress in Europe, so it’s important to keep focusing on the little details that matter to us.
“We respect them, they are at home and we know there will be a big crowd. We are looking forward to it.”
Chelsea won the reverse fixture 4-1 but with Paris FC being back on home turf, Hayes anticipates a very different challenge.
She said “We know in Europe, we respect the competition and the group. We know what their threats are, particularly their pace in the wide areas and they’ve got good experience centrally. I think it’ll be a different game to the one at Stamford Bridge.”
Chelsea’s UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture against Paris FC at Stade Charlety kicks-off at 5.45pm on Tuesday evening.
