Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Northern Irish international midfielder Danielle Maxwell.
The Lancashire club announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
Maxwell joins Blackburn Rovers from Sports Direct Women’s Premiership club Cliftonville Ladies. It has been reported that Blackburn Rovers have paid an undisclosed fee to secure the player’s services.
The 21-year-old started her career with Glentoran before moving to Cliftonville. Maxwell has been heavily involved for both clubs at domestic level while she has also gained experience of European football in the early rounds of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Maxwell is said to be an attacking midfield player who has a keen eye for goal.
On the international stage, the midfielder has already represented Northern Ireland at senior level. Maxwell has nine caps for The Green and White Army while she has scored two goals. The player has a big future ahead of her at international level if she continues to shine.
Maxwell becomes Blackburn Rovers head coach Simon Parker’s second signing of the January transfer window. The player could be involved in the Blackburn Rovers matchday squad for the first time when the club travel to Princes Park to face London City Lionesses on Sunday afternoon.
