Charlton Athletic’s teenage defender Taylor Bell has joined Chatham Town on a dual-registration basis.

Chats announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 18-year-old will spend the remainder of the season with the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division strugglers as she looks to further her development at senior level.

Bell joined the Charlton Athletic academy system at the age of 15 and she has successful forced her way into The Addicks’ senior squad. The defender made her senior debut for the South East Londoners as a substitute in last season’s 2-0 defeat at Lewes in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup. Bell added two further appearances to her tally in the remainder of last season.

Given the competition for places in the Charlton Athletic side this term, Bell has struggled for development opportunities in the first team. Her only appearance came as a very late substitute in The Addicks’ 1-0 victory over Birmingham City in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.

Bell needs minutes to grow and she should now get more game-time in the third tier with Chatham Town. The youngster joins a Chats side that are still searching for their first league win of the season.
